     What is a Bible Commentary?

A Bible commentary is a written, systematic series of explanations and interpretations of Scripture. Commentaries often analyze or expound on individualized books of the Bible, chapter by chapter and verse by verse. The library offers many types of commentaries, both online and in print.  When searching for commentaries in the library, you will find that Bible commentaries generally start with the Library of Congress call number BS491. The library has many complete sets of Bible commentaries. When searching for commentaries, you can search by the name of the commentary or you can search by the name of the book of the Bible you are researching.
